An Unforgettable Trip To Devarayana Durga

AN UNFORGEtTABLE TRIP TO DEVARAYANA DURGA

It had been a week from when my school had started. It was Saturday morning, when I started to feel like going – somewhere out for trekking. So, I asked my dad about it. He said that he would think about it.

The next day, early in the morning at 7 O’ clock, my mom woke me up. When I asked the reason, she told me that dad had asked us to get ready before he came from his walk. I was still sleepy and a little confused
WHERE WERE WE GOING?? WHY ARE WE GOING??
WHAT TIME ARE WE GOING?? HOW ARE WE GOING??

All these questions wandered in my mind while I was getting ready. After some time, my dad came back from his morning walk. I rushed towards him and started questioning him. I din’t know about other things, but my main question was, “WHERE ARE WE GOING?” He had no clue about it. We made a face. After thinking  for a while, we finally decided to go to a place called ‘Devarayan Durga’

by then, it was already 9:45am!

So, we left our home at 10 O’ clock.  on the way, we all were hungry. So we stopped at a restaurant nearby. ‘Brindavan’ was the name of the restaurant. It was a good place to eat while travelling. Then we started our journey again.

Road was a good... filled with green trees covering lots of hills. A small blue river was flowing  through the hills. It felt so refreshing to take in clean and pure air after a long time. By then it was almost 1:30 while we reached there. I was quiet excited  go up all the way in steps .J☺
There are 2 temples in Devarayana Durga. One, at the top and one at the bottom. First, we went to the 2nd temple which is in the top of the hill. There were steps to climb up the hill. We didn’t want to tire ourselves in the beginning, so we drew up there,(car goes all the way up and there is enough parking space) we parked our vehicle in the parking lot.

However, from there we had to only climb. Then we started climbing. We climbed & climbed & climbed and finally, we were very near to the temple.  There, I saw a tree with hanging roots! It was very nice. Then after a few more steps, in very small words they had written ‘600’ which meant that we had finished climbing the steps! It was so COOL!!!

The entrance was very good. It was like door. But when we entered, we found out that still a few steps were there and in front of us was a small market. We again started to climb. Puff..., we finally had reached ..  main deity of this place is Yoga Narasimha.  We took dharshan, Godess Laxmi also there! We had nice dharshan... as there were not many people, so we could spend some time inside temple.. It is an very old stone carved temple.. must be more than 1000 + years.. not much of carving as such but it is a very old temple..

After while.. we started climbing down when it started raining. It was pouring heavily. We came under the roof of the small market.
We waited & waited that the rain may stop - but it never stopped. We were hungry so we bought ourselves some pickled mangoes.

By the time I finished last pickled mango,  rain had stopped, as we where still on the high range cloud was touching us...I was feeling like I was in wonderland.

What an amazing experience and the view from the top was breathtaking. The clouds were as white as snow, whooshing through our faces. It was just a combination of nature’s beautiful forces- the fluffy clouds, the marine sky, the wonderful greenery all making up a fabulous landscape, how relaxing!  Again while descending back; we saw a ridge on our left.

We just took some pics and hurried to reach back to our car. From there, we went to see the remains of some fort and spent some time on a rock. It was amazing as clouds touching us. It started raining again !!.
We drew down 2nd temple which is in foothill,  this is also God Narasimhan temple named "Bhoga Narasimha" we had dharshan here...and came out of the temple.. by then it was almost 3.30pm

Our next destination was The deer park which is also  known as “Namada Chilume Jinkevan”.  It was just  5km away from the Bhoga Narasimha temple.  We reached their in a few mins..

The Park entrance was large and its name was written in bold dark letters curved like a rainbow. We took entry tickets and went inside.

While walking, after a while we saw small herd of deer gathered around small pit filled with water.  They were so amazing , some deer had antlers and some did not. There were so many babies hoping around.

We continued walking forward and finally saw bunch of people gathered around. We were sure this place was Namada Chilume. There were lot of monkeys.

We Went there and found out that there was a natural spring coming out from a rock.
The spring issues from the surface of the rock. It is believed that Lord Rama, along with Sita devi and Lakshmana, stayed here during their exile in the forest. Rama searched for water to apply tilaka to his forehead. When he could not find any water, he shot an arrow at the rock. The arrow penetrated the rock, made a hole, and the water came out. Henceforth, this place was called Namada Chilume, meaning "Spring of Tilak".  It was fenced by strong iron rods.
The water was crystal clear. I touched the water in excitement. It seemed that I was touching cold ice. It was really fascinating. We took a few photographs and rested for a while.

Then, suddenly it started drizzling then started pouring.. We came under shelter of a huge tree. We were completely wet! by the time we got into our car.
It was raining heavily we could not see even road.. after while it slow down a bit ..and later it stopped..On the way it was full of water flowing from hill rocks.. creating waterfalls.. we stoped in couple of places and finally spotted a nice  lake, by then our clothes were dried too.
So, we went near the lake, and actually, it was a big  one. Trees surrounded the lake with greenery, it was picture perfect place.
Beautiful Lake on the way from Devarayanadurga

My dad said its nothing less than any other hillstation, there were many large stones you could rest, emerging the sight. What a beautiful scenery! more than that our timing was perfect!!

After a while, we were back on our car hungry & tired. on the way be purchased couple of jackfruits which my dad loves ..and drew back home safe around 7, we reached home, relaxed!!!

For me it was nice one day outing.. moreover we were very lucky to have perfect weather and rain..and perfect timing... I enjoyed it!

So friends, it’s time to bid you goodbye.
Will meet u soon with new place and new adventure.
Till then take care ..Ba-Bye.
