Navratri Day 5 - Story of Skandamata | Birth of Kartikeya


Today, on the fifth day of Navaratri, maa Durga is worshipped in the form of Goddess Skandamata. And this day is dedicated to her.

Skandamata consists of 2 words, Skanda, which is another name for Lord Kartikeya and Mata which means mother. Thus the word Skandamata means the mother of Skanda or Kartikeya. As is clear from the name, she is another form of Ma Parvati.

In this form, goddess Skandamata has 4 arms. She is portrayed holding kartikeya in her left hand and a lotus in her right hand. One of her left arms is positioned to grant boons or to bless her devotees with grace. She is also known to have 3 eyes and a bright complexion.

She rides a lion and is seated on a lotus.

I  was  very  delighted   as  my  grandparents   were  coming  home . So, my  mother  decided  to go  to  one day  trip  with  them.          It  had  been  a couple of weeks  since  we  went  to  Ramanagar , (trekking trip) so  we  thought  of  going  to  Lapakshi  which  is in  Andra Pradesh but on the borders of Karnataka. Hi !!!   I am Akshara 10  years  old. I  am   going to  tell  you  all  my interesting   adventures   I enjoyed with my  family  and  friends. My one day trek to Shivagange Hills | Perfect day trip from Bangalore

My trip to shivagange hills Shivagange Trek Bull at the Peek It was calm Saturday, when I came back from school. I was chilling when my mom had an idea. It had been a long time since we had been trekking. So, she thought of visiting a place called ‘Shivagange’.  We were a little lazy, but the idea was not bad. It took us some time to decide, finally coming to the conclusion to visit the beautiful hills of Shivagange. The next morning was cold Sunday,19-1-2019,our planned day. We thought of going early in the morning and coming back by lunch. So my mom woke up at somewhat 5 in the morning and prepared breakfast. Unlike them, I woke up at around 6 o clock. It took us almost an hour to leave. We left around 7:20. It was warm and cozy at the back seat but I was attracted by the nature around me.
